About Sparks – The Children’s Medical Research Charity
Sparks is a unique children’s charity funding medical research into the prevention, treatment and cure for conditions and illnesses affecting children, babies and expectant mothers. Every year in the UK around 700,000 babies are born. Most are born healthy, but sadly 1 in 30 will be born with a condition or disability which can affect them for life. We want to change this. Help us create a world where all children are given the best possible start in life, a healthy one.
Our Aim is to help all babies and children be born healthy and stay healthy!
We need to link with small and large businesses, schools, social groups and individuals to put a charity focus into their events, dinners and working day. Whether it is a dress down day, or a major ball, talk to Ann-Marie, her aim will be to maximise the link between yourselves and Sparks, taking on the networking of the event and the media. Sparks is about giving something back and hopefully having fun on the way.
There are children and babies living in your neighbourhood who have already benefited from research funded by Sparks. There will be many more children in the future who will benefit from Sparks research being carried out by leading doctors and researchers in hospitals and universities throughout the UK .
Our work has a global impact and has been responsible for a number of medical breakthroughs, saving and improving lives for countless babies and children in the UK and through the world.
We fund research across the whole spectrum of paediatric medicine including, childhood cancers, baby brain injury, clubfoot, cerebral palsy, juvenile arthritis, meningitis, spina bifida, leukaemia, epilepsy, asthma, premature birth, causes of cot death, cystic fibrosis, deafness, pre-eclampsia, cleft lip and palate … and many more other rarer conditions affecting children and babies.
