Saywell International Track Day, Goodwood

Sparks – The Children’s Medical Research Charity are delighted to be the benefiting charity of an amazing day at Goodwood Motor Circuit on  Saturday 20th March. Peter Saywell is a passionate car enthusiast with his own collection; his company hosts regular events at the circuit. Each year Saywell International nominates local charities to benefit. Sparks, who are in turn supporting CHARMS, a Sparks study led by Dr Lucy Wedderburn which aims to find out why some children respond very well to their medication (e.g. methotrexate or MTX) for arthritis, and others less well. Not only do Sparks benefit from this generous sponsorship, but we are also able to invite children who are involved in Sparks’s projects as guests to enjoy the day. There will be a ‘Parade Lap’ between 12.30 and 13.30 when invited children and an accompanying adult will have the opportunity to be passengers in a supercar as guests of Saywell International. Outside of the Parade Lap, for a donation to Sparks, members of the public may arrange with the drivers for a ride around the track.

The event starts at 8am with a briefing for the drivers of these super cars, and is expected to finish before 5pm. Sparks ambassador, Steve Parrish, will be attending the day; Steve has been described as the most versatile petrol head in the world, having been the British Motor Cycle Champion, followed by the accolade of being the most successful truck racer in history, taking 5 world titles. More recently he can be seen as the BBC’s technical presenter and commentator, as well as studio guest for Sky Television and Eurosport, including commentating on the Red Bull Air Race Series.
